Connecting and inspiring international education leaders
Our Mission
AAIE inspires and enables our global community of leaders to collaboratively build a more diverse, inclusive, and sustainable future.
The Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering excellence in international school leadership and advancing research-driven, innovative educational practices worldwide. Established as an independent entity in 1966, AAIE was founded with the mission of continuously enhancing international education and promoting cross-cultural understanding within international schools.

From the first AAIE meeting in February 1967 to today, learn how AAIE was started and how it has evolved and continues to meet the needs of today's International School leaders.
OUR WHY
In October of 2022, The AAIE Board of Trustees came together to create a five-year strategic plan for AAIE to ensure that the organization meets its mission and goals for the AAIE members.

The AAIE specific purpose, and what we achieve for our membership.
Our mission describes the extraordinary purpose of AAIE and serves as a focal point toward which we concentrate disciplined action, effort, resources, and energy. AAIE is your place to gather as a world community throughout the year to belong, to learn together, and to know that to engage in envisioning the future of learning is the underpinning of success for our students.The future of our schools depends on vision, wisdom, courage, and integrity. Let’s do the searching, discovery, and collaborative learning together to forge ever improving relationships and school communities.

At AAIE, our team is united by a shared commitment to supporting and inspiring international school leaders around the world. We believe in the power of connection, collaboration, and courageous conversation to spark meaningful change.
OUR BOARD
The AAIE Board of Trustees serves as the governing body of the Association, and as such, is empowered to set policies, oversee the finances of the organization, hire the Executive Director, and deal with all other issues of the Association that come before it.
