Darlene Huson selected as National Distinguished Principal

The American International School of Lusaka (AISL) in Zambia is so happy to announce that Darlene Huson has been selected as one of the two National Distinguished Principals from the Department of State Assisted Schools for 2022. The selection committee ranked Darlene very high among the applicants. Darlene is currently in her sixth year as the primary principal at AISL, having held senior leadership roles previously in The United Arab Emirates and Italy. Darlene is a most unassuming and low-key individual who is incredibly impactful in her leadership and influence on the constant development of AISL learners and the greater community. During COVID, Darlene was the ‘rock’ as one Director exited and another arrived. Her dedication, commitment, patience, and reading of a situation, are always at the forefront of her actions. Darlene has so much integrity and this shines through in all her decision-making. She always keeps student learning at the center of all her actions. She is a deep, deep thinker and is concerned for everyone in her care. She is a quiet, thoughtful leader who does not seek the limelight. The depth and focused nature of her leadership here at AISL cannot be overstated. We would like you to join us in celebrating Darlene on this incredible accomplishment. It is a great honor for Darlene and our school.
