Over 50 years of AAIE Conferences
AAIE's first conference was held in Atlantic City in 1967. Since that time, our members have come to look forward to our Annual Global Leadership Conversations, where Heads of Schools and School Leaders in international education come together to learn from one and another.
In 2021 and 2022 AAIE had to pivot, and for the first time held our annual CONVERSATION virtually. Although it was not the same as our in-person events, it served as a wonderful opportunity for us to come together at a time when we needed each other the most. In 2023 we came together in person again in Washington DC, and in 2024 a record number of attendees joined us in New York City.

AAIE 2024 Global Leadership CONVERSATION

Thank you to everyone who came to New York City to participate in the AAIE 58th Annual Global Leadership CONVERSATION. Our conference theme this year, Collective Care and Action, emphasizes the importance of shared responsibility for the well-being of a community. It challenges us to recognize that everyone benefits when we come together as a community to create systems and sustainable practices through critical and inclusive thinking and design.

2023 AAIE Global Leadership CONVERSATION

Many thanks to everyone who travelled to Washington, DC to participate in the AAIE 57th Annual Global Leadership CONVERSATION. It was truly a pleasure to see each and every one of you from points all around the globe. Having the opportunity to be line, in-person and 'out of the box' was a wonderful reminder of this community's ongoing need to connect, to learn from each other in meaningful ways, to recharge and refocus thinking, and, of course, to simply be together with colleagues and friends.
2022 AAIE Global Leadership CONVERSATION

In February 2022, international school leaders from around the world joined us once again online for a Virtual Global Leadership CONVERSATION: Humans of AAIE. We heard from subject matter experts who helped us grapple with our leadership challenges. Importantly, we also heard from the voices within our own community sharing their leadership stories and wisdom. As has been our custom, through CONVERSATION, we worked together to generate collaborative ideas, explore innovations, and discuss what keeps us up at night.
2021 AAIE Global Leadership CONVERSATION
April 11-16, 2021

In April 2021, international school leaders from around the world joined us online for the first ever Virtual International Leadership CONVERSATION: HUMANS OF AAIE: Stories of Leading Through the Plague Years. Speakers included Daniel H. Pink, author of six provocative books about business and human behavior; David Sheff, author of Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction, a number-one New York Times bestseller; Terry Tempest Williams, a writer who speaks out eloquently on behalf of an ethical stance toward life, and Jeri Lynne Johnson, the Founder and Artistic Director of the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra. We also heard from voices within the AAIE community and shared stories and struggles of the past year.
