Our members have come to look forward to our Annual Global Leadership Conversations, where Heads of Schools and School Leaders in international education come together to learn from one and another.

This past February, the AAIE 2026 Global Leadership Conversation theme, 60 Years of Community, Conversations, and Embracing Change: A Journey of Leading and Learning, honored the enduring power of connection, community, and conversation in shaping the future of international education.

For six decades, AAIE has been a gathering place for international school leaders navigating change with courage, compassion, and curiosity. In 2026, we returned to this shared space—not just to reflect on where we’ve been, but to imagine what’s next. Thank you to everyone who took part in this milestone moment where stories were shared, ideas were sparked, and futures were co-created.

Past Conferences

 

AAIE’s first conference was held in Atlantic City in 1967, marking the beginning of a long tradition of convening international school leaders. In 2021 and 2022, AAIE adapted to global circumstances and, for the first time, hosted its annual conversation virtually—providing a valuable space for connection and support during a time of significant challenge.

In 2023, we proudly returned to an in-person format in Washington, DC, followed by a record-breaking gathering in New York City in 2024 and once again in Washington DC in 2025. This past year, we once again welcomed a record number of attendees, reinforcing AAIE’s role as the leading forum where international school leaders come together to connect, learn, and chart a course for the future. The AAIE conference continues to be the place for leaders to convene, especially as their roles grow more complex, demanding, and often isolating—offering a vital space for shared learning, mutual support, and collective inspiration.
