International School Board Development – A Self-Help Guide
All Day Sunday, February 4, 2024
The goal of the workshop is to provide Heads of School, particularly those lacking extensive experience working with a board with an understanding of effective governance and how they can promote focused board development.
The session will be framed around seven essential questions, based on the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE) Board Development Curriculum, which describes the critical responsibilities of an international school board.
Developed as a framework for board development, this compilation of responsibilities provides a foundation for promoting, sustaining, and enhancing good governance in international schools. The session will be conducted as an exploration of key concepts in good governance amplified with guidelines and reference materials enabling a board’s “self-help” efforts.
While the material covered will be of particular value to those new to international school governance, the concepts and tools presented would be of interest to anyone seeking to enhance the work of their international school board.
