Triage: Much is being written about the need for triage. If countries are not successful in flattening the curve and thus overwhelming the health system, doctors will be in a position to decide who receives treatment, and who does not. Based on age, underlying health issues and condition upon hospital admission decisions will be made because of the lack of respirators. (see article below)
Conversations About Reopening: A Nobel Laureate, Michael Levitt and Thomas Friedman of the NYT push a conversation about the evolution of the COVID-19 outbreak, focusing on those most vulnerable, dialing down panic, and getting countries back to work,
Taste and Smell: COVID-19 patients are reporting a loss of both taste and smell as a signal that they are coronavirus positive. The implication is to ensure home quarantine if a person experience these two signals.
Bending the Hockey Stick Curve: Doctors in France, South Korea and the US are reporting success in using the drug hydroxychloroquine in strategically treating patients with the virus. Viewed as NOT a silver bullet, with more research needed, the observation is that the drug is making a difference and may help reduce the pandemic impact. Importantly, the WHO has launched a global mega-trial of the four most promising drugs. CLICK HERE for an overview of the WHO project.
The Epicenters: Italy, Spain and New York City are viewed as the geographical centers of virus infections. Pakistan (Sindh provice) has closed its borders with many infections coming from people visiting shrines in Iran. Spain will likely extend the counntry-wide lockdown for another 15 days.
Access To Mental Health Care: There is evidence that online mental health care can support well-being, impact depression, promote engagement and with the pandemic in play may change the face of psychiatric care. –In the Words of the WHO Director General–
March 23, 2020 "The pandemic is accelerating. It took 67 days from the first reported case to reach the first 100,000 cases, 11 days for the second 100,000 cases and just 4 days for the third 100,000 cases. You can see how the virus is accelerating.

The Chinese use two brush strokes to write the word 'crisis.' One brush stroke stands for danger; the other for opportunity. In a crisis, be aware of the danger--but recognize the opportunity.
I finally figured out that not every crisis can be managed. As much as we want to keep ourselves safe, we can't protect ourselves from everything. If we want to embrace life, we also have to embrace chaos.
I was starting to see that what looks like garbage from one angle might be art from another. Maybe it did take a crisis to get to know yourself; maybe you needed to get whacked hard by life before you understood what you wanted out of it.
The most fortunate of us all in our journey through life frequently meet with calamities and misfortunes which greatly afflict us. To fortify our minds against the attacks of these calamities and misfortunes should be one of the principal studies and endeavors of our lives.
