A 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) UPDATE #3 The World Health Organizational (WHO) Emergency Committee declared on Thursday, January 30, 2020 that the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak now meets the criteria for a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. The Committee also acknowledged there are still many unknowns. Cases have now been reported in five WHO regions in one month, and human-to-human transmission has occurred outside Wuhan and outside China.
Today's readings include the WHO situation report that carries specific international statistics. The WHO Emergency Committee Report link carries the rationale for declaring novel coronavirus a public health emergency of international concern. The CDC transcript of the January 30 news briefing (including an audio version) highlights both stateside and international infection status and the confirmation of the first person-to-person spread in the USA.
