AAIE in New York City on February 1-5, 2020 is a time to celebrate our chosen profession, each other's contributions and achievements and to learn together. As we like to say and believe, we learn through honest and open CONVERSATIONS. Your leadership is a gift to your community. 'Tis the season to be happy, healthy, compassionate and giving to others. Give yourself one last gift of the season, a trip to New York City. It's a place where your gift is the joy of giving your knowledge and ideas to others in return.

This Week's Five... 1. OUR OWN HOMA TAVANGAR ON NPR! This past Wednesday, WHYY (NPR in Philadelphia) ran a story about AAIE contributor Homa Tavangar's Global Kids. It is shown through the lens of how it's being used by an outstanding global educator in her classroom. 2. In The Miseducation of the American Boy, Peggy Orenstein writes, "The definition of masculinity seems to be contracting. When asked what traits society values most in boys, only 2 percent of male survey respondents said honesty and morality." Take a look at this compelling article in The Atlantic which delves into why we need to give boys new and better models of masculinity. 3. Today's leaders are arguably far more complex than they've ever been as they face rapidly changing business landscapes that require innovation, new ideas and more of an understanding of people than ever before. Here's Darren Ryan on the difficulties and personalities of leadership. 4.
Drawing on his own inspiration, Tim Denning reminds us that "Your greatness as a leader comes down to whether you can bring out the greatness in your team first and foremost." 5. Here is your new issue of International School Leader Magazine. Features in this issue include:
