Computers & Folders
Please bring a laptop or tablet with the ability to access google drive/classroom. Please remember that the US uses 110v with two flat pronged Type A (NEMA 1-15) plugs.
Folders used during the training will be provided at Registration on Monday Morning at NSU along with access to a printer and 3-hole punch for any additional items you may need.
Dress Code
Please dress comfortably for a Florida Summer. The conference rooms are Air Conditioned, so you may want to also bring a sweater. Please bring an Umbrella - Florida is notorious for afternoon showers.
Transportation & Registration
On Monday morning, an AAIE representative will meet attendees in the Sonesta main lobby, check you in for the Van (7:45) or Bus (8:00) and travel to the campus of Nova Southeastern University where registration will take place. We ask that 5 attendees volunteer to be in the lobby ready to depart at 7:45am on Monday to help fill the Speaker Van. Please see the schedule for all departure and return times Monday - Thursday.
Communication
A combination of Google Drive, Printed Material and Email will be used throughout the week. If you have not joined the summer institute social listserv, please feel free to join here- this listserv has members of both Summer Institutes.

Food and other Necessities
Lunch and coffee breaks are provided at NSU Monday - Thursday. Tuesday evening, join the AAIE Summer Institutes Networking Dinner for drinks and a meal on the rooftop terrace at McSorley's Beach Pub.

Arriving on Sunday?
The newest outdoor spot is Park & Ocean in the Birch State Park. Live music, food, drinks and last moments of the sun and beach. Local currency: US Dollar. For up to date currency exchange rates, check. ATM bank machines (including are widely available. There is a Currency exchange in the Airports and the Galleria Mall (behind the hotel) Current Currency Exchange

Local language: The language is English; Spanish is widely spoken and as very international cities,in both Fort Lauderdale and Miami you will hear and converse in a variety of world languages.

Local Sim Card for your phone - While pre-paid cards are not as easy to find in the USA, T-Mobile offers a GSM card for foreign visitors for 3 weeks of unlimited data, texts and calls. There is a T-Mobile in the Galleria Mall behind the hotel (across the bridge).
Transportation From Airports to Hotel
Taxi: Available outside each airport. This is the most expensive option. Typical fare from FLL would be around $30 to about $70 from MIA.
Uber/Lyft: both are typically half the cost of other forms of transportation. You will need to download the app before you leave and use free wifi at the airport.

Other: Public transportation is limited but possible. The typical trip time for the trip is about 1 hour from FLL and 1.5 hours from MIA with one change of bus. Typical fee is $2.50

Institute Transportation: Private transportation from the Sonesta Hotel to the NSU campus will be provided on event days (Monday Morning - Leaving at 8:00 and returning at 17:00)
