2008 AAIE Hall of Fame Inductees


Dick Dick Krajcar Dick received his B.A. from the University of Wyoming in 1969, an M.A. in educational administration from the University of Wyoming in 1977, and completed his doctorate from the University of Florida in 1992. He was a teacher and principal at the American International School of Kabul in Afghanistan (1972-76); director of the Damascus Community School in Damascus, Syria (1977-79); superintendent of the American Community School in Amman, Jordan (1979-89); and headmaster of the International School of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1989-96). Dick was executive director of the East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS) from 1996-2005. He then became the executive director of AAIE until 2007 and is now back with EARCOS again. He has been vice president and president of EARCOS, served 10 years as the president of NESA, and was an AAIE board member for many years. He has received the AAIE 25-year award and was a recipient of the TIE Stanley Haas award. His wife, Sherry, was a teacher of sociology, psychology, and keyboarding in the international schools, and they have two children—Josh, who teaches third grade at Brent International School Subic in the Philippines; and Morgan who has taught in Brazil, Venezuela, and Thailand, and is currently teaching art in Sandpoint, Idaho.

 

Price BarrieJo Price Dr. Barrie Jo Price is a professor in The Institute for Interactive Technology in The College of Human Environmental Sciences at The University of Alabama and a partner in emTech Consulting. She has held university positions in education and engineering, communication centers and worked with the medical school. Her work includes computer-mediated collaboration strategies and asynchronous, online learning. She has co-authored 10 textbooks, numerous chapters, and articles. She is a current or former board member for National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, The George Lucas Educational Foundation, Annual Leadership Summit for Learning Technology Research, Development and Dissemination for NECC, 100 People Foundation, and IRIS Foundation. She writes for InterEd, ISS NewsLinks, and Cable in the Classroom’s magazine. She has worked with American-curriculum schools abroad since 1979, beginning as a consultant for the US Department of State, Office of Overseas Schools, mentored by Dr. Ernie Mannino and Dr. Fred J. Vescolani. Her daughter, Meredith, Boynton Beach, Florida, completes an extended family of wonderful people she considers family.

 


Lamb Elsa Lamb Currently the director general of the American Nicaraguan School, Elsa has a total of 22 years of experience as an overseas school head. Her educational career also includes 20 years of elementary, middle school, and special education teaching experience. Ms. Lamb is well-versed on the challenges international schools and associations face. In addition to her overseas school experiences, she attributes much of what she has learned about the international education community to her active involvement, over the years, on the boards of the European Council of International Schools, Mediterranean Association of International Schools, Association of American Schools in South America, Academy of International School Heads, and most recently, to her terms as AAIE board president. She looks forward to continuing her work in international education in her new role as AAIE executive director, a position she assumes full-time as of July 2008.
