Subject:      Moving In and Out

Dear Head-netters,

Thank you to the 21 of you who responded to my request for information about

shipping in and shipping out faculty. There are probably no big surprises in

this information, however some interesting approaches for us to consider here.

All schools helped in some way shipping teachers in and out. The amount of

shipping usually depends on whether the teacher is single or has a family.

Six of the schools based this amount on weight; the rest had set currency

amounts (usually $US). Obviously if an apartment or housing was fully

furnished, shipment amounts were less. In most cases the shipping amount out

was higher than coming in but not all the time.

Several schools included moving expenses, air flight and relocation money in

one amount given to the teacher to use as she/he sees fit. One school gives

reimbursements up to a set amount and the teacher takes care of moving in

and must have receipts for expenses. In several, if the teacher did not ship

in the amount allowed, he/she could use the extra money as wished.

A school mentioned that they would ship out to the home of record listed in

the contract or to a place that does not cost more than it would cost to

ship to the home of record.

Thanks again for your help on this one.  Kindest regards,

Julie Wagner, Acting Head of School
