Dear Colleagues,
Many thanks to the quick responses from 36 schools. Let me try to summarize them.
Of the 36, 22 schools require some participation from their teachers in After School Activities. For 17 schools, it is part of the contract, and they do not pay extra.
All others pay either hourly, ranging from $8.00-27.00 (the latter is
subject to both social and income tax) with an average around $17.50 or they
pay a stipend. My apologies for not converting a few currencies mention into dollars. Stipends range from "small" to $5000! Coaching falls in the $650-850 range per season.
Most schools that do not "require" participation as part of their contract
"strongly urge it." One school pays 1.5 times a teacher's regular hourly
wage. One school came out strongly for stipends rather than an hourly wage.
I hope this is helpful.
Sincerely,
Ellen D. Stern
