Dr. Rushworth Kidder, founder and president of the Institute for Global Ethics, is a graduate of Amherst Colleges with a Ph.D. from Columbia University. Prior to founding the institute for Global Ethics in 1990, Kidder was senior columnist and features editor for the Christian Science Monitor. Using a robust, straightforward framework for discussing ethics, he brings an uncommon clarity to the complexities of ethical decision-making. His published books include: How Good People Make Tough Choice, Shared Values for a Troubled World: Conversations with Men and Women of Conscience, Moral Courage, The Ethics Recession, and his most recent book: Good Kids, Tough Choices: How to Help Children Do the Right Thing (2010).

Darrell Scott: Saturday Keynote

Darrell Scott is the founder of the Rachel's Challenge program. Rachel Scott, his daughter, was the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999, but her shining example of love and acceptance was not defeated that day. Her acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for one of the most life changing programs in America, Rachel’s Challenge.
Darrell Scott has spoken to over five million people in live settings around the world, not counting the millions he has spoken to through programs such as Oprah, Larry King Live, CNN, and the Today Show. He has authored or co-authored five books, and meets with politicians and educators regularly concerning issues of school violence.

James H. Stronge is the Heritage Professor in the Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership Area at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia. His research interests include policy and practice related to teacher quality, and teacher and administrator evaluation. He has worked with numerous school districts and other educational organizations to design and implement evaluation systems for teachers, administrators, and support personnel. His work on effective teachers focuses on how to identify effective teachers and how to enhance teacher effectiveness. Dr. Stronge has presented his research at conferences such as American Educational Research Association and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, conducted workshops for national and state organizations, and worked with local school districts.
He has been a teacher, counselor, and district-level administrator. His doctorate is in the area of educational administration and planning from the University of Alabama.

Dr. Leigh Hafrey

Since 1995, Dr. Leigh Hafrey has been Senior Lecturer in the Behavioral and Policy Sciences at the MIT Sloan School of Management, teaching in the MBA, MIT-China, Leaders for Global Operations and other programs. Since the mid-90’s, he has also moderated The Aspen Institute’s Seminar in Leadership, Values, and the Good Society, as well as other seminars sponsored by the U.S. parent organization and its international affiliates. A former staff editor at The New York Times Book Review, Hafrey has published book translations from French and German and reports, essays, reviews, and interviews in The New York Times and other American and European periodicals. His book on how people use story to articulate ethical norms, The Story of Success: Five Steps to Mastering Ethics in Business, appeared in 2005.
